First-Person Question

I don't do first-person. At least not regularly and definitely not for any length of time. I think it's more drama than education. I attended a seminar at Reenactor Fest this weekend about "interacting with the public." I thought it would be about how to make contact with the public, perhaps using artifacts, but it was instead on how to do first-person. It was mainly theatrical tricks that never really dwelt on the dark side of the practice (the public trying to get you to break character, using your time on the stage to impress the civilians with your thespian ability rather than passing on education).

But they were so damned chipper, enthusiastic and dead certain that first-person was the only way to do interpretation. Maybe there's something that I haven't considered. What do y'all say? Do you do first-person, and think it's the best way of interaction? Why? I've drawn the lines,m explained my thoughts. Convince me I'm wrong if you really like dong first-person.
