Viking Spongebob

Help Preserve the 1893 Viking Ship!

Today is the last day to vote for saving the Viking Ship in Chicago. If EVERY person who reads this voted today, that would have a very
significant impact on the end results. Please, take just a few minutes
to go help out a grand old lady, and in a way our hobby as well. Even if
you are not an American, you do have an interest in things Viking, so GO

The Raven (or The Viking) is one of the largest artifacts still existing from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. It is based on the recently discovered gokstad ship and was built and sailed because of Norwegian distaste for the deification of columbus (this was the Columbian exposition). Academics said that the Vinland sagas were fiction since there was no way that Viking ships could have sailed across the Atlantic; the ship successfully sailed from Norway, across the Atlantic, to Chicago.

I just added three photos from a visit we made last year to Flickr. the site is http://flickr.com/photos/folo/
